"I Love Amazon" Exhibition Celebrates Autism Awareness Month with Vibrant Community Gathering
The "I Love Amazon" exhibition was a colorful and heartwarming celebration held in honor of Autism Awareness Month, which takes place globally in April. The event, created by Grazi Gadia, an art therapist and advocate, emphasized the inclusion of artists on the autism spectrum within the visual arts community and society at large. Through her nonprofit organization, Eyecontact – Lives Shaped by Autism, Grazi Gadia continues to create spaces where ASD individuals can express themselves and connect with others.
The exhibition brought together families, professionals, and the community in a lively atmosphere filled with entertainment and meaningful connections. Attendees were treated to captivating live performances, including a beautiful violin performance by ASD musicians Victoria Lawrence and Arthur Cordeiro. Adding to the enchantment was an incredible acrobatic aerial performance by artist Marcela Duarte.
The event was made possible by the dedication of a team of professionals and volunteers, including Larissa Martins, Dr. Erica Grub, BCBA, Dr. Vera Joffe, Adriana Farinas, Natassia Santos, and Dr. Gadia with the support of Consulate General of Brazil in Miami. Their efforts ensured the event's success and underscored the importance of collaboration and community support in advancing autism awareness.
The exhibition’s highlights was the stunning artwork created by ASD artists, each showcasing their unique perspectives and talents. Featured artists included Lucas Kasenhuk, Helena Lontra, Arthur Cordeiro, and Eric Grignoli.
The "I Love Amazon" exhibition served as a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity and the value of celebrating neurodiversity. The event not only raised awareness but also strengthened bonds within the community, providing a platform for ASD individuals to shine and share their gifts with the world.
